Sabah Trip Day 7 (22-1-2006)
*yawns* hahah.. today woke up at 6am to see mt. kinabalu.. as it's only in the morning, the top is
not covered by clouds or by mist... after that 5mins of taking pic.. went back to slp.. and only
manage to wake up at ard 10am and we set off to the Sabah Tea plantation...
apparently the tea is super famous.. but it's really waYYY too ulu for pple to visit.. hahah for
many times.. we thot that we missed the turn into the plantation.. finally abt 20mins driving into
some weird lane.. we riched the plantation... and it was HUUUGE.. there were just hills and hills
tea planted... it didn't smelt like it was all tea as i was expecting.. apparently tea only smell nice
after it's been processed at the factory... oh well.. but still it was a nice place... very quiet..
we went ard to look at the factory and it smelt really nice.. and drove in alittle bit more.. and saw
this traditional long hse.. in the old times.. abt 30-40 family live in these hses.. along the long
long corridor with b lined with rms.. filled with diff family
we went back to the visitor centre to try out the tea.. as the roads were abit too rocky to continue in.. the tea taste is very rich.. hahah.. so i decided to grab some as souvenirs...
after that we headed towards Poring.. there's hot springs there...wahh.. i was totally looking forward to hot spring.. i seem to hav impression that i've been to hot spring before.. but i can't rem actual exp though...
when i reach there.. i was quite disappointed as the hot spring is not like those jap ones u see on tv but juz a hole dug into grd, they line the hole with tiles.. turning it into a tub and u fill it with
hot spring water.. (which takes abt 30mins to fill up the tub..) omg.. so forget it.. derek suggested
to go to the waterfall to hav a swim..
we walked along really mudded paths.. like pple go hiking like that.. and reached a mini-waterfall.. the water flow isn't very strong today.. affected by recent weather or something like that.. any way the water is SUPER clear... and cold as well.. went in there to play with derek, steffi and cousins. stood under the strong waterfall.. hahah feel abit like those pple u see in movie/cartoon practising gong fu or qi gong underwater fall.. ahhaha... took some photos as well.. but derek's dad hand shook and alot of the photos were blurred.. oh well. i shall b back to take better ones.. after we dried ourselves abit.. we went for the canopy walkway...
the canopy walkway is suppose to be famous.. and alot of researchers come here to do studies on the plants.. well.. if u still rem ya geog.. like how rainforest are categorised into several diff layers
and this walkway is built on top of trees.. to reach the top most layer of the forest at about 43m off grd..
it was a long way up though.. climbing stairs after stairs..steffi was dying before she reached the
first resting point...the walkway was not as scary as i thot.. though those who hav height phobia
might rather die then walk on the walkway..
the way they made the walkway is dodgy.. juz ladders tied with planks... my goodness. hahha n they very wad one.. if u wanna bring camera need to pay for camera's entry.. and u can't smuggle it in cos supposingly there's this guy on a watch tower that oversees the whole walkway.. u don't pay at entry they charge u more at exit...
at first i didn't noe the proper way to walk on the walkway and caused the thing to sway like mad.. ahhaa.. in the end derek found out and taught me the correct way to go which is one step in front of the other.. not like mine.. step left step right~ shuffling forward... hahahah it wasn't a long walk spent only like 10mins on the walkway, 10mins climbing up and another 10min going down...
on the way down.. saw mushrooms, and a tree that hav trunk similar to durian.. look abit like those spiked clubs...i was so scared that i will forget and stand up straight while walking under that tree wan whack my head on those thorns..
after the canopy walkway.. it was ard 3.30pm already.. and we need to start heading out to get lunch and also to drive back to the city...
on the way ard the mountain.. i was really surprised. cos why.. i thot mountain pple suppose to live quiet life.. with nothing much to do.. then every single hse i pass by at the mountain.. even the super ulu one.. where the hse is like the only one somewhere along the road.. they hav a satellite dish sticking out of the hse for cable tv. wad a non-matching pair.. mountain wood hse with satellite dish.. weird.
we stopped by a small town.. of whose name i forgot.. woops.. and had chicken rice there.. it was
horrible~ bleah.. well luckily we were hungry.. so everything went down.. derek's parents apologise for horrible food as they didn't noe the town too well as well.. hahaha i found KFC next to that horrible food place.. hahaha.. shld hav gotten tat instead.. but it's weird.. KFC... in the midst of mountains..open till 11pm somemore..
on the way back.. we pass by another town that had famous BBQ chicken wings and butt and "kidney" and we ate somemore again.. then it was end of the mountain trip and we headed back towards the city...
i slpt on the way back.. ahhaha too exhausted frm the day's activity..
reach back at derek's place at ard 7.30pm and had a light dinner of HUMONGOUS king prawns brought back frm Sundakhan by derek's dad...
at ard 9.30pm.. there were fireworks frm Jalan Gaya.. for the opening of the CNY festival at the st i think.. hahah i climbed onto his rubbish bin at the front of the hse to snap pics.. and got scolded by derek.. woopsss~.. oh well.. been a wonderful triP~
PS. for all the tourist attractions i went.. i pretended to b a malaysian.. as non-local are charged
at crazy prices like 2-3times of local price.. crazy man...

Sabah Trip Day 8 (23-1-2006)
IsLand Island IslanD~!!! today is the day to go to the island.. steffi recommended Pulua Manukan...cos it's less crowded...
we slpt late last nite.. thus in the morning, we barely made it into his mom's car before she need to rush off for work..she sent us to Sutera Harbour where the boats departs to the 3 islands, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Mamutik... there's also the biggest of offshore island, Pulau Gaya.. but then it doesn't seem to be often visited by tourists..
We missed the 9am boat.. and had to take the 9.30am boat... the ticket was rather cheap.. hhaha nearly got cheated into buying a package with all kinds of weird stuff included.. cos like wad RM50.. in theend clear up liao the boat ticket only costed like RM15..
At 9.30am, we board the boat and it seemed like a pretty slow ride.. but then the sea... the islands.. is juz abit the dream like...
after like 15-20mins we approached this island... and docked.. thinking that we've reach.. me and
derek wanted to alight then the dude was like.. "Mr. Derek? this is not the Pulau Manukan, this is Pulau Mamutik, you're due to alight next stop.." there's 2 things abt this incident..
1, AHHH so malu my gdness. i was already on the dock.. hahha then hav to come back onto the boat..
2, like OMG.. why does everyone seem to noe his name.. hahah Mr. Derek.. so freaking weird..
anyway after sitting on the boat for another 5mins.. we finally reach the proper island i suppose to be on.. hahah Pulau Manukan... the first thing i noticed.. WAHHH THE WATER VERY CLEAR!!!! even at the docks.. omg. usually they are fully covered with seaweed or something like that.. juz cannot see thru the water one... upon entering the island, still have to pay entrance fee into island~~
the pple under the same company as the boat took us onto the island and gave us a quick tour.. after which i went to put on some swimsuit and went to play water. hahah didn't really swim.. juz playing. also scared that pple with take my stuff since i cldn't bring my bag into water rite... then after that derek say he wanted to get buried in sand.. hahah juz abt to start then the dude came over again.. saying if wanna do water sport then need to do now before it gets too windy later.. hahah so signed up for parasailing at RM80 and sea walking at RM250.. actually i was deciding whether i shld do seawalking as i think it was quite expensive.. there was also this "scuby"-doo thingy.. that u put on helmet and hav this "vehicle" u can cycle in the sea yourself.. hahaha. tempted to try.. but the staffsay they haven try how reliable that thing is.. so better do sea walking.. as many pple do b4 liao..
we packed up and went onboard this boat that brought me further out to sea.. and hooked me on to the parachute.. i was so happy when they opened the parachute that it is the yellow smiley face.. hhaha i simply love it~~ WAHHH happy.. before i went up i thot it was quite scary.. since it look as if it was quite fast.. the thing work as there's this short pole attached to the boat.. then can a strong wire attached to the pole, which got a roller inside to extend the line and to wind it back in... then the other end is attached to the parachute la.. i got hooked onto the parachute.. then after that they drive forward as they let more rope go.. and there i go.. up in the air.. very relaxing... not fast at all.. as i juz floating there.. for 15mins i hung there.. enjoying the air, the scenary, the sound of the environment.. it was certainly a gd exp...
after 15mins of floating.. i was sent back to Pulau Manukan.. and immediately we boarded another speed boat.. to Pulau Sapi.. Seawalking's office.. there i was given a short briefing.. like wad kinda hand signs to use while in water as it was not possible to talk...basically in seawalking.. without any diving equipment then we go down and walk on the sea floor, 6m below the platform tat i will get shipped to.. the helmet serve 2 purpose.. to deliver oxygen to me.. so can breathe as normal and also to add pressure so water wldn't flood in..~muahahah excited excited...
finally another speed boat ride to a platform near Pulau Gaya.. there we were made to change to a diff kind of shoes.. then can go down la.. the helmet is FREEAKING heavy.. omg. my shoulders ached like mad...n the pressure on my ears.. oh mine..for one moment i really regretted going down.. we climbed down this ladder that leads down frm the platform.. oh and i use we cos there's this unknown chinese kid that was doing with me as well... the instructor and photographer is already down there.. and the instructor helped me down the ladder... and left me holding the rope that's already set down at the sea... the seabed was not smooth at all.. rocks and corals.. and the rope is already rusting... but then while standing there.. there was ALREADY TONS OF FISH ARd.. mine.. was i amazed.. i was shown all kinds things.. like big clams... NemO~ starfish, a bowl-shaped thingy.. ahhaha the photographer was doing all kinds of funny things with them.. hahah like how the clam.. he tried to pretend that his finger got clamped by the clam.. the bowl-shaped thingy for hat... the nemo he tried to let me
touch... the starfish as well.. and there was also a sea spider i think.. creepy... hahaha i was down
there for 30mins.. at one part he kept snapping pics for me.. but then i didn't realise.. hahaha
cos he never put 1,2,3... all those also.. so all the photos i got was in same emotion.. hahaha one
thing that kinda spoilt the exp was.. u noe how i injuried myself on day 2.. by now it's got a scap
on the wound already.. but the fishes bite off the scap and started biting me.. arghh... stinging
pains.. so had to cover my wound most of the time...
meanwhile on the platform.. where derek was waiting.. his mom called.. and discovered the shocking truth of me seawalking and totally freaked out "OMG.. HOW CAN U LET HER GO DIVING>> IF TOUCH WOOD ANYTHING HAPPEN TO HER>> WAD DO I DO...BBLAH" hahaha and derek was frantically explaining to her..
after 30mins~ i resurfaced.. and took a speedboat back to Pulau Sapi.. .my wound was streaming with blood...and i got some quick cleaning of wound on pulau sapi.. so it is decided that i shall not
go into water animore for the day due to the wound.. so after collection my pictures and certificate of seawalking.. we went back to pulau manukan and caught the 1.30pm boat back to city...
it was a really cool exp that i cannot forget.. when we left.. hahah there was this dude "Mr. Derek, are you leaving? Have you cleared all the fees for sea sports? Hope you enjoyed ya stay~" and it was a dude i never see before.. hahah i wondered wad they did~ how come they noe like every customer's name...
anyway after we went back to city, his mom picked us up to lunch and dropped us back home.. where me and derek when back to nap after we showered...hahah super tired.. wad a way to end my last day..at nite derek's mom brought me to dinner at seafood restaurant... the food was nice~ esp. the clam~
later at night.. derek drove to friend's place to hang out, some other frens have already arrived
they mostly played guitar at first.. but as it was getting late.. they decided to go back into the
hse and then play card (wrestlin).. one of the guys doesn't play card.. so it was decided that he would take me and one of the dude's niece to the playgrd nearby to hang out... got my fav wooden swings!! ahhh excited... was tokin to our "babysitter" ~ he's the gadget kinda guy.. juz awhile before.. he did something to his hp.. emitting infra red of same frequency as tv remote.. and played with the tv's vol... ahhaha one of the other guys even thot he was sitting on the remote .. cool...
we hang ard till 12mn.. and went back.. since i was gettin tired.. and wanted to pack for tml's flight..
finally after many obvious hinting~ we left at ard 12.30am... on the way back.. near derek's sec
sch... we exchanged seat and i was suppose to drive the 2 of us back home.. this is the first time
i am driving after i got my license in dec.. omg. so nervous.. though it's juz a short distance away
probably a 5 min drive.. i don't noe the roads... and the road was pretty dark..so i was doing 30-40km/hr.. then derek was being mean.. he told me there is 3 ways home frm his high sch.. but didn't tell me where.. after i missed the 1st turn, he informed me i missed.. then i was pissed.. cos like wad the hell u expect me to know the way meh.. after 2nd turn... i missed again.. not knowing that i suppose to turn...ahh.. finally 3rd turn.. cannot miss liao.. hahaha cos it was super obvious end of the road.. lalala.. so we did manage to reach home after all~ didn't damage the car as well.

i am driving after i got my license in dec.. omg. so nervous.. though it's juz a short distance away
probably a 5 min drive.. i don't noe the roads... and the road was pretty dark..so i was doing 30-40km/hr.. then derek was being mean.. he told me there is 3 ways home frm his high sch.. but didn't tell me where.. after i missed the 1st turn, he informed me i missed.. then i was pissed.. cos like wad the hell u expect me to know the way meh.. after 2nd turn... i missed again.. not knowing that i suppose to turn...ahh.. finally 3rd turn.. cannot miss liao.. hahaha cos it was super obvious end of the road.. lalala.. so we did manage to reach home after all~ didn't damage the car as well.
after reaching.. i packed up most of my stuff.. and went to slp.. been a long day...
